Startup Demo Day 2017 Recap
The tech sector in BC is more than 40 years old and its rise in past 10 years has contributed to Vancouver’s thriving startup ecosystem, earning Vancouver Forbes’ recognition as the #1 Startup City in the World.
On September 29, VentureLabs hosted over 20 companies at Startup Demo Day to close off Vancouver Startup Week 2017. In an event that included high-tech startup demos and a networking reception, we saw over 400 registered participants in one afternoon! Among the visitors were entrepreneurs, investors, VC’s, and media outlets.
Demos included Virtro Entertainment’s endless runner game, Run Dorothy Run, soon to be released on the Sony Playstation VR and Oculus Rift; A&K Robotics’ autonomous, self-driving vehicles for indoor environments; Shield X’s protective helmet technology and Velometro’s Veemo velomobile, which is currently pilot testing at the University of British Columbia.
