The Client Services Program Assistant provides secretarial, administrative, and financial support services for the SFU VentureLabs program staff, mentors, and Executive-in-Residence (EIRs). The role also provides front-line client information services and acts as a resource and primary contact to the tenants of VentureLabs offices; responds to internal and external requests for general information regarding entrepreneurship and business accelerator programs; designs and develops program marketing materials (i.e., information handouts, brochures) for clients; and prepares invoices for VentureLabs programs.


  • High school graduation and one year of post-secondary education including training in word processing, database, and spreadsheet applications and training in secretarial practices and office procedures
  • 3 years of work experience
  • An equivalent combination of formal education, certificate/program of study and experience is acceptable
  • Good knowledge of standard office practices, procedures, and equipment
  • Good knowledge of bookkeeping concepts and practices
  • 60 wpm keyboarding skills with a high degree of accuracy
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills
  • Excellent proofreading and editing skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to exercise mature judgment and initiative
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion
  • Ability to use word processing, spreadsheet, database, web content editing, image editing, and desktop publishing applications (i.e., Word, Excel, WordPress, AEM, Photoshop, InDesign) at an intermediate level
  • Ability to use enterprise level information systems and financial reporting tools (i.e., PeopleSoft, FAST) at an intermediate level
  • Ability to use internet browser software
  • Ability to record and transcribe meeting minutes with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to perform arithmetic calculations, up to and including calculating percentages, with a high degree of accuracy

Pay Range – 1,658.37 – $1,879.50 Bi-Weekly
