Alison Berg
Executive-in-Residence (EIR), SFU VentureLabs
Alison serves as an EIR at SFU VentureLabs, mentoring early stage companies as they bring
technology innovations for challenging problems to market. She is also the VP of People & Communications at Photonic Inc, a company driving next-generation quantum technologies
based on silicon. Alison holds over 20 years of strategic marketing and HR experience, having
worked for early-stage innovators in big data, telecommunications, and high- performance
computing, as well as non-profit and public sector organizations. She is known for her ability to
bring high-functioning teams together and to deliver strategic programs that engage and
deliver results. She holds an MBA in Marketing, a BA in English, and an HR certificate.

Katherine Gibson
Project Manager & Sr. Consultant, BC HR Tech Group’s Diversity and Inclusion Tech Project
In addition to serving as a Project Manager & Sr. Consultant for the HR Tech Group’s Diversity
and Inclusion Tech Project, Kathy Gibson is also the President/CEO of Catchy Consulting Inc. Prior to establishing the company over a decade ago, she held the role of Director of Human Resources, achieving “Best Employer” awards twice. Kathy has acted as a Sr. Project Manager, Consultant & Advisor on a number of influential projects, including multiple Provincial Sector Labour Market Partnership projects. Her expertise is relied upon among various Advisory Boards due to her exceptional understanding of the labor market, diversity and inclusion, immigration and talent strategies for the employee life cycle. She’s done Foreign Direct Investment Training with the VEC & Red Hot Locations.

Kathy holds a CHRP: Certified Human Resources Professional designation, a nationally recognized Human Resources Management Association. As an advocate and expert on pressing economic, social and technology issues, Kathy has had the opportunity to present at the HUMA parliamentary hearings on the Temporary Foreign Worker Program and has been consulted with policy leaders on the design of global talent stream and federal policy. She is experienced in coordinating and executing events, stakeholder engagement roundtables and communication campaigns to maximize domestic workforce through elevating diversity and inclusion practices and enhance immigration policies to meet employer’s needs.
