The Government of Canada launched the 50 – 30 Challenge to support and enhance diversity and inclusion actions in Canadian organizations and companies. VentureLabs has partnered with Toronto Metropolitan University’s Diversity Institute as a BC partner.


The Challenge is aimed at advancing gender parity and increasing diversity on boards and in senior leadership roles. Ultimately, the 50 – 30 Challenge aims to have:

  • Gender parity (50% women and/or non-binary people) on
    Canadian boards and/or in senior management;
  • Significant representation (30%) on Canadian boards and/or senior management of members of other equity-deserving groups

Diversity at VentureLabs

VentureLabs is working with members and partner companies everyday towards achieving the 50 – 30 goal. In winter/spring 2023, we launched the Elephant in the Room program to help women entrepreneurs connect and address challenges unique to them. We also partnered with the Diversity Institute and the Digital Technology Supercluster to bring Canadian SMEs the Diversity Assessment Tool App
