Anti-layoff Layoff Club is organized by HackHub with the aim to help people in tech to share experiences, learn how to be prepared, cope with, and recover from mass lay-offs.

Just when we thought the tech sector appeared unhinged from the reality of the rest of the world, tech jobs tracker layoffs.fyi says more than 300 companies have laid off more than 97,500 employees so far this year. It is happening and it is real.

In this meetup, guest speakers will be invited to talk about what can be done in preparation for a layoff, strategies to recover, followed by tips on job hunting.

Anton Feng – “Layoff survival strategies: How to protect yourself “

Anton is an ex-Amazon, ex-Coursera software engineer. After being laid off by Coursera in December 2022, he has been reflecting upon this experience, as well as learning legal knowledge to protect ourselves in the future.

Liyana Johan – “Next steps: Tips on back-to-school & open-to-work”

Liyana is a Career Services Advisor at Lighthouse Labs, where she helps career changers break into the tech industry. As a certified coach, she spends most of her time supporting Lighthouse Labs graduates with their career development through 1:1 coaching sessions and hosting various workshops on job-search strategies.
