Learn all about venture finance and raising capital, and then get advising from experts all in one afternoon at VentureLabs! Following our extremely successful event in December, we’ve put together a follow-on event designed to help scaleup founders. Come away with relevant information and knowledge directly applicable to your business.

What to expect

  • Presentation – learn how to approach and speak to investors when raising capital to fuel your business
  • Panel session – investors share what they look for and evaluate when making investments
  • Office hours – curated one-on-one meetings with panellists and subject matter experts on raising capital, venture finance, IP as an investable asset, and other critical topics
  • Networking & social – a dedicated networking session and social hour following the meetings to continue the conversation

Geoffrey Hansen, partner at Garibaldi Capital Advisors, will teach you the essentials for developing a pitch deck to match your audience and how to understand what investors look for. Use content and your story to demonstrate how you qualify for investment.

You will come away from the presentation with a deeper understanding of how investors evaluate your company and which investors you should target.

Our panel of investors will discuss who’s investing in 2023 and why. They’ll share predictions for the venture finance market in the coming year and what companies can do to improve fundraising efforts.

Documentation and Process for Raising Capital: Due Diligence & Deal Rooms

Join a seasoned CFO and securities lawyer in looking at the due diligence process for an early-stage company. Understand what should go in a deal room for your company so potential investors can find all the information they need. This a group breakout session with a short presentation and Q&A concurrent with office hours.

NETWORKING & SOCIAL

Wrap up an afternoon of learning, getting questions answered, and information gathering with a late afternoon social. You’ll have great conversations with the Vancouver startup community from investors, founders, and supporters.
