The Creative as CEO | Coast Capital Speaker Series

Consider and be inspired by what it means to be a CEO in your field!

Presented as part of the Coast Capital Speaker Series and in collaboration with the Interactive Arts Student Union, Venture Connection is hosting an interactive zoom conversation between two creatives-turned-CEOs – one a seasoned serial entrepreneur and the other a new founder.

Michael Cheng (SIAT ‘11) of Lumen5 started his entrepreneurial journey early at SFU more than a decade ago and is now CEO & co-Founder of Lumen5, an award-winning rising star on the BC tech landscape.

Recent SFU Alum Bassam Mirghani (SIAT ‘19) launched LivShows in mid- 2020; his early promise won him the 2021 Chang Institute Idea Prize and more recently LivShows’ AR Builder was used for an exhibition by Germany’s largest outdoor and online gallery.

Both Michael and Bassam will share their journeys into entrepreneurship and discuss growing into CEO roles, with a focus on how a creative perspective brings both interesting challenges and opportunities to startups. Join us and learn from their stories.
