David Seymour, VP and General Manager, Microsoft Vancouver

David began his career in IT as an IBM E-Business Specialist in Eastern Canada. After moving to BC, he entered the game industry with successive positions at Radical Entertainment, Electronic Arts and Slant Six Games, before joining Microsoft as part of an acquisition in 2009. Over the last 14 years, he’s delivered a range of products, from day-one experiences for Kinect and Xbox One, to MSN, Office 3D, the Windows photos ecosystem and new M365 video experiences. Today, he leads Microsoft’s R&D campus in Vancouver.

Handol Kim, CEO of Variational AI

Handol is Co-Founder & CEO of Variational AI. Variational AI is a venture-backed generative AI platform-based drug discovery start-up working at the intersection of machine learning and chemistry to create novel and selective cancer drugs. Our goal is to deliver better, novel, and safe medicines to patients faster than ever to redefine the unit economics of drug discovery and development. Handol has 25+ years of technology leadership experience in venture-backed start-ups and public companies in software, mobile, quantum computing, and machine learning in Silicon Valley, Canada, and Asia Pacific. He sits on the boards of the AI Network of BC (AInBC), The Frontier Collective, and the United Way of BC.

Chris Hobbs, co-founder and president, TTT Studios

Chris Hobbs is the Co-Founder and President of TTT Studios, a Digital Consulting & Software Development company with the mission to create custom software that empowers users. Chris is a visionary entrepreneur and technologist with a passion for innovation that has played a pivotal role in establishing Vancouver as a significant hub for emerging technologies. Chris is also the host of the business and technology podcast, AfternoonT, which focuses on the unique journey of the founders of Canada’s most exciting and successful companies.

Kate Wilson, managing editor, Vancouver Tech Journal

Kate Wilson is the managing editor of Vancouver Tech Journal and Victoria Tech Journal. She was previously the technology editor at the Georgia Straight. Her work has also appeared in TechCrunch, BetaKit, the Independent.
