Mitacs Accelerate Entrepreneur Info Session

Take your start-up to the next level with Mitacs’ Accelerate Entrepreneur (eAccelerate). Early-stage startups that are hosted by an incubator can apply to eAccelerate for funds to develop the research or technology at the core of their business.

Take real, meaningful advantage of the supports provided by the incubator and combine it with the funding from Mitacs. In short, get paid to grow your company and get to market faster! Successful applicants are eligible to receive a minimum of $10,000 for a 4-month project.

In this information session, you will be provided with more information about the eAccelerate program, learn about student entrepreneur experiences, and be able to ask questions.

Facilitator:

Yaser Roshan received his Ph.D. from the School of Mechatronic Systems Engineering, SFU in summer 2014, and is currently the Director of Business Development at Mitacs. Combining his entrepreneurial and research background, he was working part-time as a post-doctoral researcher and team supervisor in medical SFU spin-offs, before joining Mitacs.

As a Coast Capital Savings Venture Connection alumnus, Yaser is the co-founder of Ophthalight Digital Solutions Inc., which is currently a parent company of CannSight Technologies a leading innovation-based company in impairment screening.

He was also engaged in volunteer activities specifically in helping other immigrant engineers in BC. He acted as the chair of Iranian Engineers of BC association, for which has received the 2015 leadership award from Immigrant Employment Council of BC (IEC-BC).

About Coast Capital Savings Venture Connection

Western Canada’s first university business incubator, Coast Capital Savings Venture Connection® is a university-wide incubator, entrepreneurship training program for students and recent alumni. From the initial business idea through to validation, Venture Connection® supports individuals exploring entrepreneurship possibilities. The program offers an early-stage business incubator, mentorship, co-op education terms, competitions, networking opportunities, workshops and seminars. Venture Connection® collaborates with all SFU faculties and departments, including the Beedie School of Business, the Faculty of Applied Sciences, the Faculty of Communication Arts and Technology, Work Integrated Learning and a wide-range of external partners. The program is supported by professional staff, including Mentors-in-Residence with substantial experience in a range of industries.
