Founder Collective is a Massachusetts-based seed-stage venture capital fund that helps entrepreneurs build their businesses. With over 93 exits, including Uber and Trade Desk, now publicly traded;  Cruise Automation, acquired by GM; Periscope, acquired by Twitter; MakerBot, acquired by Stratasys, to name a few. The firm was founded by a group of entrepreneurs in 2009, and launched with a $40 million seed-stage fund, and has raised over 140M to date to continue to support entrepreneurs. Founders Collective is one of the most notable seed-stage VCs globally.

In this session of The Brief, Parul will shed light on her journey from founder/product specialist to venture capitalist and her approach to due diligence and assessing investment opportunities. Her talk will touch on her role within Founder Collective, and her dedicated focus on investments on early-stage investing across a wide range of industries, with technology as a unifying theme. Beginning her journey in technology as a developer, Parul began a product manager with venture-backed startups and media companies like NY Times, where she focused on the areas of video and multi-media before leaving to begin her journey as an entrepreneur.

In 2012, Parul founded Gradeable to structure unstructured assessment data and provide a viable alternative to standardized testing in K-12 schools, early customers included Teach for America and Providence, RI Public Schools. In 2016, Parul made the leap into venture capital with Founder Collective, sourcing investment deal in  AdHawk, Smalls, Zoba, Perksy, and leading the diligence on a number of other portfolio companies.
