Malcolm Kendall is a seasoned entrepreneur, venture investor, and executive with more than 25 years of experience building and advising life sciences and technology companies. He is the Founding Partner of CDG Ventures, where he works closely with early-stage biotech, agtech, and deep-tech startups on strategy, fundraising, partnerships, and go-to-market execution.
Malcolm has co-founded and led multiple companies, including Microbiome Insights—an industry-leading microbial genomics services provider acquired in 2025—and Indel Therapeutics, an anti-infective drug discovery biotechnology company. He has also served on the board of Semios, helping guide the company’s growth into one of the world’s largest precision-agriculture IoT platforms.
Deeply committed to supporting emerging founders, Malcolm is an active mentor and advisor with programs such as Creative Destruction Lab, New Ventures BC, Life Sciences BC, and several academic accelerators. His work spans scientific, commercial, and operational development, with a particular focus on translating complex technologies into scalable businesses.
As an Entrepreneur-in-Residence with SFU VentureLabs and its deeptech program, Perago, Malcolm brings a hands-on, founder-first approach—helping innovators sharpen their strategy, validate markets, build traction, and accelerate the path from discovery to real-world impact.
