Canadian Government supports SFU VentureLabs Alumni, Aspect Biosystems with $79 Million in Funding

On April 2nd, the Government of Canada announced an investment of $79 Million for SFU VentureLabs Alumni, Aspect Biosystems. This initiative was conducted through the Strategic Response Fund (SRF), a fund focused on supporting Canadian industries’ innovation, adaptation and competition in an evolving global economy. The Province of British Columbia will also be supporting Aspect Biosystems with $23.8 million to expand the company. 

The national government is strengthening its partnership with Aspect Biosystems with an additional $280 million collaboration that supports the scaling of Aspect’s clinical development, enhances their AI-platform and accelerates the commercialization process. This installation will create upwards of 400 jobs for employees and co-op students alike. 

Aspect Biosystems’ CEO, Tamer Mohammed remains enthusiastic about this joint effort.
