Perago Company BryoSphere Secures Funding to Scale Moss-Grown Skincare Ingredients

Perago company BryoSphere Biotechnologies has secured new funding from OKGN WMAN to scale the production of its plant-based ingredients for the skincare industry. The investment will support the commercialization of BryoSphere’s first product, BryoBright, while advancing future moss-derived skincare ingredients.
BryoBright is an engineered moss extract enriched with aureusidin, a rare plant compound whose scarcity and production complexity have previously prevented its use at commercial scale. The women-led company’s biomanufacturing platform addresses this challenge by growing engineered moss in controlled photobioreactors, providing a scalable source of the bioactive ingredient. BryoBright is designed to address dark spot discoloration and support a more even-looking skin tone and improved radiance.
“BryoSphere has unlocked the code for commercial-scale production of plant-based bioactive ingredients that are safe, transparently sourced, cost-effective and high-performance.”
Camille Saltman, Co-founder and General Partner, OKGN WMAN.
