Fusion Genomics Participates in $8M Federally Funded Genomics Research Initiative
Perago company, Fusion Genomics, is participating in a federally funded genomics research initiative as part of eight BC-based projects sharing $8 million in funding within a broader $20 million fund.
This funding will help accelerate advancements in areas like pathogen detection, disease diagnosis and improved care for populations with pre-existing conditions including cancer and Type 1 diabetes.
Fusion Genomics’ President and Chief Scientific Officer, Dr. Mohammad Qadir is collaborating with UBC’s Dr. Patrick Tang on a project focused on applying targeted metagenomics for enhanced infectious disease diagnoses under the Genomics Applications Partnership Program (GAAP) for BC.
Dr. Qadir’s involvement with the project supports the development and advancement of tools that will empower healthcare providers to more accurately identify infections and select appropriate treatments.
