Scott Keesey & Rene Blanco are founders to watch
Scott Keesey, co-founder of SFU VentureLabs company DISCOVELO, and Rene Blanco, co-founder of VentureLabs company Labora, are two of 21 new founders to watch according to Future of Good. They were selected amongst more than 200 nominations.
After 17 years in high-pressure consulting work, resulting in work-induced anxiety, Keesey decided on a career change to help others manage stress and anxiety through exercise. He founded the social impact venture DISCOVELO in 2019 alongside John Carson to develop software that pairs with any stationary bike to provide teachers and students with a tool to learn how to regulate emotional energy.
SFU Beedie MBA Alumni, Rene Blanco, founded Labora to help the underserved population of temporary foreign workers. Their fintech platform provides a simple and secure digital payroll service to farmers enabling their seasonal agricultural workers to transfer remittances back home at the best fee and exchange rates available.
DISCOVELO and Labora are members of the VentureLabs accelerator community, receiving help to scale up their ventures through dedicated mentorship, marketing services, and more.
