Spotlight on Innovation: VentureLabs’ Road to Web Summit
In the lead-up to Web Summit Vancouver, VentureLabs was proud to host a series of events that brought together startups and investors from across BC and beyond. From curated investor meetings to conversations around scaling and deeptech, each event was designed to spark connection and spotlight the strength of BC’s innovation ecosystem.
Here’s a look back at what we hosted in May.
May 26 – Company Showcase by VentureLabs
Company Showcase brought together 15 of BC’s top early-stage companies and a global network of investors for a dynamic day of discovery, conversation, and connection. The event welcomed 200 guests, spotlighting emerging ventures across AI, quantum, life sciences, and more. It reinforced VentureLabs’ role in curating opportunities where local innovation meets a global audience.
May 27 – Curated Meetings
Curated Meetings gave investors and companies a focused space to connect through one-on-one conversations, matched by sector and stage. With meaningful meetings and networking over coffee and lunch, the event showcased how VentureLabs helps spark real opportunities ahead of Web Summit.
May 27 – Rise & Raise
Later that day, Rise & Raise brought together women founders, investors, and leaders across tech, deeptech, and life sciences for an afternoon of meaningful dialogue and connection. From one-on-one investor matchmaking to honest conversations about scaling, leadership, and funding, the event highlighted VentureLabs’ role in creating space for women-led innovation.
May 28 – How AI and Quantum Can Transform Your Business
To close out the week, our Quantum and AI event explored how BC startups are responding to advancements in technologies. With a panel from Andrew Gemino, Alex Seidlitz, Louise Turner, and Rob Goehring, and support from Mitacs and the Quantum Algorithms Institute, the evening sparked important conversations about collaboration, commercialization, and the future of innovation in BC.
