VentureLabs Alumni Company Expands Operations with Cutting Edge Facility in Boston
VentureLabs alumni company Ionomr Innovations is expanding, opening a new development and manufacturing facility in Boston, Massachusetts. This 22,000 square foot facility is expected to create 40 new jobs in the next three years.
This milestone follows Ionomr’s successes in 2024, closing a $20 million series A funding round and being named to the annual Global Clean Tech 100 list.
Ben Britton, co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Ionomr, is an SFU alumnus. First working together in chemistry professor Steven Holdcroft’s SFU lab on more cost effective and durable polymer membranes for use in fuel cells, the pair went on to co-found Ionomr Innovations.
Britton is also an alumnus of the Invention to Innovation program at SFU’s Beedie School of Business, a program that helps scientists and engineers develop entrepreneurial skills to bring their ideas to market.
“Establishing the Boston-area facility provides access to some of the most highly skilled engineering talent in the industry as we continue to grow our advanced technology and manufacturing teams,” said Britton.
